We had a presentation from UK Food Harvest, a not-for-profit organisation that aims to eliminate hunger and food waste.
The presentation not only highlighted the environmental and social impacts of reducing food waste but also introduced members to a practical way to access fresh, affordable produce. It was an opportunity to learn, support a meaningful cause, and discover a simple way to make your weekly shop healthier and more budget-friendly.
Working with supermarkets, suppliers, and local shops, UKHarvest redistributes high-quality surplus food to the public through welcoming community pick-up points in Chichester, East Wittering, and Itchenor.
These pop-up markets are open to everyone — no eligibility criteria — and visitors are invited to take as much fresh fruit and vegetables as they need. A small donation of £5 is suggested, but there is absolutely no obligation to contribute.
